More Than a Summer Love

It had only taken a month for Liam Malloy to fall in love with Ebony Devane during the summer before their senior year of high school, but fifteen years for him to do anything about it. Yet when they meet again at the state fair, he doesn’t waste any time letting Ebony know they belong together.

Excerpt Chapter 2

Ebony weaved through the fair crowds, stopping more abruptly than she preferred because of little kids darting in front of her or couples pausing to make out. She tried to keep the scowl from her face, especially in light of the dream she’d had this morning.

“Ugh, don’t even think about it,” Ebony whispered under her breath, shaking her head as she approached a line for a food booth. She’d get the hot dog and the curly fries first.

The line moved slowly, thanks to a family of five in front of her, with sixty percent of it being under the age of ten. They were bad-ass little kids too—being ornery, spiteful, yelling at the top of their lungs or changing their orders every two seconds. She knew at this rate she wouldn’t get any food, so she spun on her feet and turned away.

Smack dab into a human wall.

“Oh, my goodness I’m—!”

Hands gripped her upper arms tightly, and her fight-or-flight response kicked in immediately. She snapped her eyes up, and then she could breathe no more.

Ebony let herself be dragged to a low-traffic area, but she still hadn’t taken a proper breath since she’d looked into those eyes.

Those very brandy eyes she’d dreamed of the night before.

“Liam,” she rasped out. The hands gentled their hold, but didn’t let go. She didn’t know what else to say or do, so she just continued to stare.

To her immense disbelief, one of his hands slid down her arm to her waist, then around to her back until it palmed a butt cheek. It squeezed, and a corner of his mouth lifted.

“I just need to make sure,” he whispered, right before pressing his mouth to hers.

Her legs ceased their ability to keep her standing, but Liam seemed more than amenable to be her support. He brought her to his chest and let his mouth take its sweet time exploring hers. He’d definitely improved his technique in the past fifteen years, making her aroused in less time it took to blink. Gone was the tenderness of their first kiss, yet desperation and disbelief was apparently just as addicting.

Liam pulled away before she could return his affection with her full faculties, and the lights from the food booths illuminated his features just enough so she could see.

“Yeah, you’re definitely my Sweetness,” he murmured, smiling. “How are you, Ebony?”

“Just like that?” she asked, her voice awed.

“Hmm, one more would do it,” he amended, right before kissing her again.
